Replacing a shift knob affects your transmission shifter. Some vehicles use a push-down, lift-ring, or twist-lock mechanism to access reverse — a knob that doesn't clear those mechanisms will prevent you from shifting into reverse. Confirm your vehicle's shift pattern and any lockout mechanism it uses before ordering.

Install only while the vehicle is off, in park, with the parking brake engaged. Test full range of gear shifts — including reverse — before driving. If anything binds, stop and reinstall your factory knob.
